Scheduled and preventative generator maintenance
For generators that regularly run on light loads, the importance of regular servicing is increased as excessive wear and deposit build up can lead to wet stacking - where unburned fuel enters the exhaust system.
For power systems operating in critical power industries such as hospitals, data centres and labs, scheduled and preventative generator maintenance is unavoidable.
What needs to be checked?
The Genovate Power Solutions servicing and maintenance checklist involves more than 50 things to check including fluid levels, testing, cleaning, battery maintenance, and CPS verification. Additionally there are specific intricacies to each set which require different checks and attention. All of our expert engineers are fully trained and capable of servicing and optimising any set they are faced with.
One of the most important things to check is the fuel level. Ensuring your tank is full of fuel prevents condensation from forming inside the tank which reduces water contamination. This should be checked weekly. If your generator runs out of fuel this can damage the engine as dirt from the bottom of the teak can be sucked up into the system.
The oil and water levels in the cooling system of your generator are also of crucial importance and should also be checked as they can cause your engine to fail if not properly monitored.
