Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) | A cost-effective solution for complying with new emissions legislation

Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) is an exhaust gas purification process which can be fitted to your diesel and gas reciprocating engines in order to reduce nitrous oxide (NOx) emissions to below the legal levels for compliance.

Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) | A cost-effective solution for complying with new emissions legislation

For businesses impacted by these new rules an SCR solution means you have the opportunity to either reduce your tariff emissions or to use more energy for the same tariff.

For many of our customers, SCR technology is a vital addition to ensure compliance with the EU Medium Combustion Plant Directive (MCPD) and the new Air Quality Regulations here in the UK.

Looking forward, the current UK Parliament has also announced it will be proposing further emissions abatement legislation. A flexible SCR solution gives customers reassurance that they will be able to react and remain compliant when this new legislation comes into force.

Hug Engineering

We’re proud to be the UK and Eire partner of Hug Engineering AG, Europe's leading manufacturer of SCR systems.

Hug Engineering have been the recognised leaders for emmissions abatement and the development and production of reliable exhaust gas purification systems for over 36 years.

The Company has been providing efficient solutions and services for engines used in stationary, marine and rail applications –in the form of standardised modules and customised systems for a range of  engine manufacturers, system integrators and end-users.

By bringing together the complimentary skills and experience of Genovate and Hug Engineering we can offer the most cost efficient SCR solutions with an engineering and installations pedigree you can trust.

How does SCR work?

SCRs (selective catalytic reducers) typically use a two stage catalyst process (oxidation coupled with an SCR specific catalyst) to reduce NOx emmisions. Similarly to the Ad Blue used in cars and trucks..

The technology originated in Japan, and was first used in a large commercial/civil air quality applications within Switzerland. It has since proven to be a suitable technology to assist within a myriad of other industries, and has been adopted wholesale by the automotive industry It now offers a cost effective, feasible and easily implemented solution for the Medium Combustion Plant Directive (MCPD).
